About this Talk
One effective way of learning how to recognize and avoid making mistakes that have historically led to drinking water disasters is by examining the details that triggered such disasters. This talk provides an overview of a new training course which reviews the operational causes of drinking water disasters that have occurred over the past 20 years (post-Walkerton) in developed countries.
The focus is on learning how to avoid similar disasters in the future by examining the root causes of problems that led to catastrophe. The information to be presented is intended to assist with continual improvement initiatives.
The learning objectives for this course include: • Refreshing knowledge of some common treatment processes • Understanding the root causes of numerous waterborne disease outbreaks • Recognizing the conditions that could lead to a disaster • Learning from mistakes made around the world over the past 20 years
